Materials and how they change the pack

Kraft, cardboard, bux board and rigid board are the four families. Kraft is uncoated and shows the fibre. Cardboard is the general purpose choice and prints cleanly. Bux board suits lighter retail cartons that need a crisp edge. Rigid board carries weight and holds a square corner. Recyclable and eco material options are available, and it is worth stating at enquiry stage whether that is a requirement or a preference, because it narrows the material list before anything is drawn.

Artwork, proofing and design support

Free design support covers the dieline if you do not have one, and it is much easier to build artwork onto a correct dieline than to retrofit a layout onto a cutter guide afterwards. Printing is full colour, and finishing (matt or gloss lamination, foiling, embossing, metallic and holographic effects) is quoted per job. A digital proof is approved before production starts, which is the point at which panel copy, barcodes and colour references get their last check.
